About me
Ann Kearney has been a member of the University at Albany Libraries Faculty for over fifteen years and is currently the Libraries’ Coordinator of Preservation Services.
She holds a Master of Science in Information Science degree from the University at Albany and is completing a Master of Arts in English. She received a Fulbright Award to study Bookbinding and Paper Conservation from Camberwell College of Art and Crafts, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rosemont College.
Prior to coming the Albany, she served as Associate Conservator at Case Western Reserve University and maintained a private book conservation practice in northern Ohio. Her clients during that time included Cleveland Public Library, the University of Akron and Kent State University.
Her research interest areas include trauma-informed preservation of material culture, narrative structures in 19th and 20th century art and literature, and the history and practice of book arts.
She has a strong commitment to national and regional collections care collaborations. She chaired the Outreach Advisory Group of The Foundation for the American Institute for Conservation’s Collections Care Network, and the leader of the Capital District Library Council’s Preservation Interest Group.
