About me
Cheyenne Caraway is Choctaw and Chickasaw from southern Oklahoma. In 2015, she earned a B.A. in Anthropology and Studio Art from Fort Lewis College. After graduating, Cheyenne was a museum contractor in the Four Corners region and became the Collections Manager at the Southern Ute Museum in 2018.
Cheyenne’s conservation pre-program experience includes the Andrew W. Mellon Opportunity for Diversity in Conservation workshop and internships at the National Museum of the American Indian, the American Museum of Natural History, and the J. Paul Getty Museum. She was the Conservation Assistant in the Anthropology department at AMNH prior to starting the UCLA/Getty Conservation of Cultural Heritage program in 2022.
Cheyenne has worked with public museums, private institutions, and sovereign nations; these include prehistoric, historical, and contemporary Indigenous art and collections. Cheyenne hopes to continue taking holistic approaches to projects while prioritizing a Native perspective and cultivating relationships with Indigenous communities.
