About me
My name is Dina Yehya Abd ElGawad, Textile & Carpet Conservator at Museum of Islamic Art also working as part of a team in conservation archaeological artifacts inside storage area and exhibit show cases. I finished my Ph.D. degree on (A comparative experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of some plant volatile oils and Nano chemical insecticides to control insect damage in archaeological textiles protein fabrics, with practical application on a selected object, 2022), Department of Restoration and conservation monuments, Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University. Also I finished my Master degree on(preventive conservation to exhibit and storage flat textile, with practical application on a selected object, Cairo University, Faculty of Archaeology , 2017), Department of Restoration and conservation monuments, Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University. I published four articles about conservation of textiles. I participated in many projects such as:
2023- Primary investigator assistant in the project: Rescue, conservation and archiving the glass plate negatives at Museum of Islamic Art (under evaluation from American research center ARCE)
2022- The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) project under UNESCO/ Italian Funds- in- trust.
2015- Member in the project: Restoration and conservation some ancient carpets in faculty of archaeology, Cairo University.
I published four articles in international journals, and right now i am preparing my fifth article in restoration and preservation museum collections from insects, also I am preparing my own book. I am a trainer in workshop at Center of Scientific Heritage Studies, faculty of science, Cairo University about Restoration and conservation heritage materials.
I travelled before to Centro per la conservazione ed il Restauro dei Beni Culturali( La Venaria Reale), Italy, Turin, July 2022, to participate on a training course in Material science. Also I travelled to Germany to participate in study and contact tour to German Museums in Jul y 2023.
