About me
Ellen Carrlee holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology (University of Alaska Fairbanks 2020), an M.A. in Art History and Conservation (New York University 2000), and a B.A. in Art History (University of Wisconsin Madison 1995). Following a fellowship at the National Museum of the American Indian, she was the curator at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum for five years and has been the conservator at the Alaska State Museum since 2006. She specializes in the care of indigenous and archaeological organic materials with a focus on collaborative practice. Her research emphasizes networks of relationships, endeavoring to promote hands-on engagement with materials and collections alongside artists, intellectuals, and indigenous experts.
