Helen M. Thomas-Haney is a Principal and Senior Conservator at Jablonski Building Conservation, Inc. New York, NY. She has 22 years of experience as an architectural conservator. Her responsibilities include conducting conditions surveys and field inspections with an emphasis on masonry conservation and on-site sampling and laboratory testing and analysis of mortars, building materials, and finishes. She earned a B.A. in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington and an M.S. in Historic Preservation from Columbia University. She was an assistant adjunct associate professor at Columbia University where she taught “Conservation Workshop” from Fall 2011 to Fall 2015. She is a Professional Associate with The American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works and a Recognized Professional with the Association for Preservation Technology. Ms. Thomas-Haney has presented several papers at conferences and published articles on preservation and conservation topics. Her special interests include analytical investigations, masonry, and modern materials, particularly aluminum.
