About me
My name is Amira Abd El- Hakim Hamdy Abd El- Hakim. I have been working as an antiquities conservator at the Grand Egyptian Museum since 2010. I was promoted to Vice Chife of the Stone and Mural Painting Laboratory since 2018. I obtained a BA in Archaeology, Restoration and Conservation Department, from Cairo University in 2008. I obtained a master's degree with a thesis entitled (A Comparative Study in using of Enzymes and LASER to clean Limestone and Sandstone Surfaces Applied on some Selected Objects) in 2016. Finally, I completed my postgraduate studies by obtaining a PhD in Antiquities Restoration with a thesis entitled (A Comparative Study for Using of Improved Traditional Consolidation Materials and Biological Consolidation by calcitic Bacteria Applied on some Selected Objects) in 2023 both of them from Cairo University . I have taken several courses in my field and the fields that cooperate with it, such as analysis, archaeological documentation, transportation, packaging, and others. I have also participated in a number of local scientific conferences and journals, and I strive to rise to the level of international publishing. My main passion is to revive and restore antiquities through all their stages, from the first time I receive them to preparing them for museum display after documenting them and following up on all the steps of restoration related to them, accompanied by all the necessary scientific methods and analyses for that. I hope to communicate with colleagues around the world to exchange new information and experiences.
