About me
Donglin Chen graduated with a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in architectural conservation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Art History from Trinity College, where she developed a strong foundation in material analysis and historical research. At the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Donglin works as a conservation intern, leading pigment analysis of one 14th–15th century Chinese Buddhist mural using portable XRF. Her work includes interpreting results, conducting provenance research, and developing visualizations and reports to inform future conservation efforts. She has also contributed to pigment and mortar analysis at the Center for Architectural Conservation and the Wharton Esherick Museum, where she employed cross-section microscopy, Raman, FTIR, and GC-MS to understand historic architectural materials and deterioration. She aims to pursue a career as a conservation scientist, bridging conservation and laboratory analysis.
