About me
Elise Etrheim holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Art History from Emory University, where she first discovered her interest in art conservation and preservation. During her undergraduate studies, she completed an internship at the Michael C. Carlos Museum and worked as a Student Conservation Assistant at Emory University Libraries' Preservation Department.
Elise went on to complete a Pre-Program Objects Conservation Internship at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she contributed to the annual care and documentation of the museum's outdoor sculpture collection. She is currently a Preservation Assistant at the University of Arizona Libraries Special Collections, where she has played a key role in developing protocols and programs for the preservation studio, established in 2022. Her responsibilities include archival rehousing, collection surveying, environmental monitoring, minor interventive treatments, and exhibition preparation and (de)installation.
Looking ahead, Elise plans to pursue graduate training in art conservation, with a particular focus on applying analytical techniques to novel materials and artistic styles. She is especially interested in expanding our understanding of artist materials and their degradation processes in museum collections.
