About me
Verónica is a Bilingual Book and Paper Conservator dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in conservation practices across the Americas. Her research focuses on parchment-based materials, as well as Iberian and Spanish American colonial and post-colonial library and archival collections. Verónica is the first Puerto Rican to earn a Master of Science in Art Conservation in Library and Archival Materials from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC), Class of 2023. She has completed an 11-month Advanced Book Conservation Internship at the Library of Congress and was the 2023-24 Harper-Inglis Post-Graduate Conservation Fellow. Verónica has also undertaken preventive and conservation placements at the American Philosophical Society, the Smithsonian Institution, and several Puerto Rican institutions, including the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Library, the Ponce Art Museum, and the National Library of Puerto Rico. She currently serves as a Book and Paper Conservator at The Huntington, leading research and conservation efforts for the Mexican Primeros Libros Collection and firebrand (marcas de fuego) documentation project.
